Earl Buck

INDUCTED: 1998

1940s, '50s Hillclimb Champion.

Born on May 4, 1911, Earl S. Buck was a multitime AMA National Hillclimb Champion and motorcycle dealer who raced throughout the 1940s, 50s and 60s. He won the 1940 AMA Class A 74 c.i. Hillclimb title aboard a BSA Golden Flash, and later earned the 1958 AMA Class A 74 c.i. Championship aboard an Ariel.

Buck remained a Hillclimb contender well into the 1960s, placing third at the 1965 AMA Class A 74 c.i. race on the Mt. Garfield hill in Muskegon, Mich.

Buck operated an Ariel dealership in Hazel Park, Mich., and was a resident there at the time of his death on Feb. 5, 1988.
