Dave Schultz

45 NHRA National event wins in 23-year racing career.

Dave Schultz was one of the most successful Pro Stock motorcycle drag racers in history, with scores of wins and numerous titles over the course of his racing career.

Born May 15, 1948 in Chattanooga, Tenn., Schultz was a tenacious drag racer. He started racing cars but soon turned to motorcycles.

He won his first NHRA national in 1985, and his first NHRA championship in 1987. He followed that up with another championship in 1988. He then won NHRA Pro Stock titles in 1991, 1993, 1994 and 1996. He earned an incredible 45 NHRA event wins.

Schultz also raced in AMA Prostar and captured 21 event wins and two championships: in 1991 and 1994.

Plus, Schultz won seven IDBA dragracing championships. He won champions in the three major series— AMA Prostar, NHRA and IDBA—simultaneously in 1991 and 1994.

Schultz was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2001.

Schultz died of colon cancer in 2001. He was 52.
